SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Chris Nelson is the new chairman of the
South Dakota Public Utilities Commission.
The three Republican commissioners elected Nelson as chairman.
Commissioner Gary Hanson says Nelson's background as the
secretary of state and his life experiences qualify him to lead the
commission.
Nelson is beginning his second year on the PUC. Gov. Dennis
Daugaard appointed him to fill a vacancy left by the resignation of
Dusty Johnson in January. Nelson moved into the chairman's position
after serving as vice chairman since June.
