SDSU MBB… Dominique Morrison's career-high 38 points led Oral Roberts to a 97-75 victory over South Dakota State on Saturday night and into sole possession of first place in the Summit League.
Morrison eclipsed his previous high of 35 by hitting 11 baskets, including five 3-pointers, and all 11 free throws as the Golden Eagles (14-4, 6-0) extended their winning streak to seven. He scored 21 points in the first half.
The Jacks were outrebounded by ten – head coach Scott Nagy says that, and defense, were problems.
Steven Roundtree scored 17 points and Warren Niles and Michael Craion 15 each for Oral Roberts.
Nate Wolters' 22 points led the Jackrabbits (13-5, 5-1), whose four-game winning streak ended. Tony Fiegen added 11, and Griffan Callahan, Jordan Dykstra and Chad White had 10 apiece. Nagy says Wolters may have tried to do too much in the second half.
The Jackrabbits shot 56 percent (30 of 54) but were outdone by Oral Roberts' 61 percent (37 of 61). The Golden committed just six turnovers.
Nagy says the game film will be a tough watch.
The Jacks host South Dakota Thursday night.

SUMMIT MBB… Taylor Braun scored 29 points, including the go-ahead basket with 17 seconds remaining in overtime, and North Dakota State defeated Southern Utah 72-69. Braun also had 11 rebounds, and made 12 of 14 free throws. Marshall Bjorklund scored 13 points and Lawrence Alexander had 12 points for the Bison. Ray Jones Jr. led Southern Utah with 15 points. Ramell Taylor and Damon Heuir each scored 12 points for the Thunderbirds, and Jackson Stevenett scored 11 before fouling out.
-DASH-
Charlie Westbrook scored a career-best 32 points and South Dakota ended a three-game slide with a 76-57 victory over UMKC. Louie Krogman added 16 points, and Trevor Gruis had his second double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Coyotes. Reggie Chamberlain scored 19 points and Thomas Staton 10 for the Kangaroos.
-DASH-
Reggie Hamilton scored 20 of his 31 points in the first half as Oakland, Mich., snapped a six-game skid with a 93-81 victory over IUPUI. Corey Petros scored 20 points, Ryan Bass 14 and Travis Bader 13. Alex Young's 22 points led the Jaguars. Lyonell Gaines and Stephen Thomas added 20 points apiece. Gaines grabbed 11 rebounds.
-DASH-
Jack Houpt scored 21 points, all on 3-pointers, to lift Western Illinois past IPFW 75-65. Ceola Clark added 18 points and Obi Emegano and Terell Parks 15 apiece for the Leathernecks. Frank Gaines scored 30 points, including four 3-pointers, to pace the Mastodons.

SDSU WBB… Oral Roberts shot 58 percent in the second half, erasing a double-digit deficit to pull out a 71-65 victory over South Dakota State in Summit League women’s basketball action Saturday afternoon at the Mabee Center.
The preseason favorite Golden Eagles improved to 9-6 overall and pulled even in the loss column in league play with SDSU at 3-1. The Jackrabbits dropped to 9-7 overall and 4-1 in The Summit League.
Jordan Pyle led ORU with 17 points, while Kevi Luper and Georgia Jones each tallied 15.
Jennie Sunnarborg tied a season high with 23 points, going 9-for-9 at the free throw line. Jill Young finished the game with 16 points, going 4-of-9 on three-point attempts.
Head coach Aaron Johnston says the Jacks didn’t take advantage of opportunities.
Johnston says Pyle’s play hurt the most:
For the first time all season, the Jackrabbits were out-rebounded by a Summit League opponent. ORU held a 36-30 edge with Amber Carver and Dominique Allen each hauling in seven boards. Ashley Eide led the Jackrabbits with seven rebounds to share game-high honors.
SDSU plays Monday night at Southern Utah – Johnston says their record’s deceiving:
You’ll hear Monday night’s game on the Ranch AM 910.

FCS FOOTBALL… Brock Jensen threw a touchdown pass right after a fake punt, then had a 1-yard keeper for another score set up by a long interception return and North Dakota State won its first FCS championship with a 17-6 victory over top-seeded Sam Houston State on Saturday.
The Bison (14-1), who won the last of their five NCAA Division II national championships in 1990, were in another title game for the first time since moving to the upper division in 2004.
Sam Houston (14-1) had its lowest-scoring game of the season, 33 points below its FCS-best average, and was denied an undefeated season and its first Football Championship Subdivision title. The Bearkats had only 210 total yards.
