A Brookings resident chases an intruder out of his apartment. It was reported to police
at about 4:47 Sunday morning from the 2200 block of Nicole.
Police Lt. Derrick Powers says a man and woman weresleeping and awakened by
noises. They asked who was there and a man who had been crouching on the floor
got up and ran out. The resident gave chase as the suspect fled down the stairs and
out of the building.
There was a small amount of cash missing and lights had been turned on inside the
apartment.
A very similar incident happened on November 30th in the same area. In that case, a
woman awoke to find a man in her room, crouching by her bed. The suspect in that
case also took off running. In both cases, doors to the residences were not locked.
A description was provided in the latest incident of a young white male, tall and thin,
6'-1" to 6'-3" in height. He was wearing a red and black plaid jacket with a grey hood
and blue jeans.
