SDSU FB SKED…South Dakota State will host five games, including rekindling a century-old rivalry with the University of South Dakota, during the 2012 season.
The Jackrabbits open the 2012 season with another matchup against a Football Bowl Subdivision opponent, traveling to Lawrence, Kan., on Sept. 1 to compete against the Kansas Jayhawks. This game marks the third time SDSU will be taking on a Big 12 Conference foe since moving to the Division I ranks in 2004. The following week, on Sept. 8, the Jackrabbits will head farther south as they have their first-ever meeting against Southeastern Louisiana.
The eight-game Missouri Valley Football Conference slate opens Sept. 22, when the Jackrabbits travel to Indiana State. The Jackrabbits host the 99th Hobo Day Game on Oct. 27 against Youngstown State. Kickoff for the Hobo Day game is slated for 2 p.m.

BHS BBB…Watertown visits Brookings Friday night in an ESD Conference boys’ basketball game that pits Division 1AA rivals. Game time at Bob Jostad Gym is 7:30 – you’ll hear the game on KCountry 102 @ 7:00pm.
Brookings enters the game off a win over top-ranked Sioux Falls O’Gorman – while the Arrows fell to Sioux Falls Washington. Head coach Travis Engebretson says the Bobcats did a good job attacking the basket – something Watertown likes to do. 97627 :13 “of defending that”.
Engebretson says, in some ways, Watertown’s similar to O’Gorman: 97628 :19 “because they will”.

SDSU MBB…South Dakota State opens a three-game Summit League road swing this weekend – at North Dakota State Saturday, then on to Oakland and IPFW next week.
Three wins would be big in the league race, but Jacks’ head coach Scott Nagy’s only focused on the Bison. 97624 :19 “the next game”.
Nagy says SDSU and NDSU are similar in several respects: 97625 :24 “a few juniors”.
Nagy says both teams like to push the ball. 97626 :31 “that we rebound”.

BOBCAT BACKERS…The Bobcat Backers will host their usual social event at the Brookings Elks Club Monday, starting at 7:00pm. As always, winter coaches will be on hand to give updates on their teams. Food and beverage will be available.
Friday, January 27, Bobcat Backers - in conjunction with Cubby's Sports Bar & Grill - will be hosting a post-game social. following the girls/boys basketball doubleheader with Rapid City Stevens The public is invited.
