Hearing Set for Old West Re-enactor

RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - An Old West gun battle re-enactor in
South Dakota who fired live rounds instead of blanks during a show
and wounded three onlookers is set to appear in federal court.
Paul Doering, of Summerset, is scheduled to appear in the U.S.
District Court in Rapid City for an arraignment and a change of
plea hearing Thursday morning.
The 49-year-old acknowledged in a plea agreement signed earlier
this month that he tampered with evidence after the June 17
shooting during a performance in Hill City that injured three
people. He says he tried to hide two handguns and ammunition after
the incident because he is a convicted felon.
A grand jury indicted Doering in July on a charge of possessing
a firearm as a felon.
