City of Huron May Face Harassment Claims
HURON, S.D. (AP) - The Huron City Commission is considering hiring a Sioux
Falls law firm to deal with sexual harassment complaints against the city's solid
waste department.
A letter to the city from the Boyce, Greenfield, Pashby and Welk firm says
an investigation is being conducted in anticipation of lawsuits over claims of
"sexual harassment, harassment and bullying." One man who worked in the
solid waste department was fired and another suspended without pay for 30
days late last year, though the reasons haven't been made public.
A representative of the local employees union says it is considering legal
action against the city on behalf of the two workers.
