SIGNING BASH…South Dakota State athletics will host a signing day get-together Wednesday evening at Cubby’s in downtown Brookings.
    Soccer coach Lang Wedemeyer will speak about his recruits at 5:45, followed by football coach John Stiegelmeier at six.  All Jackrabbit fans are welcome to attend.

RANGERS…After a three-week hiatus, the Brookings Rangers boys varsity hockey team returns to league action Friday night at Mitchell, and Sunday at Huron.
    Rangers coach Jesse Rounds says the Marlins have two of the state’s best players, but not a lof of depth beyond that.  97623   :21   “wear them down”.
    Rounds says Huron plays an emotional, physical type of game.  97624   :14   “that’s Huron hockey”.
    Rounds says Brookings played physical hockey in two Minnesota tournaments, but need to readjust to South Dakota’s style, and avoid penalties.
    Brookings is unbeaten in league play.

FROSTBITE FROLIC…The Prairie Striders Running Club is holding its first “Frostbite Frolic” event Saturday morning at eleven.
    Club spokeswoman Shari Landmark says the event’s a kickoff to the 2012 season:  97621   :12   “is really great”.
    Landmark says the day gives runners a chance to plan out their year.  97622   :21   “that run together”.
