Machete Robber to Stand Trial

RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - A Rapid City woman accused of using a
knife and a machete in two casino robbery attempts is to stand
trial in about a month.
Defense attorney Jeremiah Davis says he and prosecutors have
been unable to reach a plea agreement. Trial for 26-year-old Julia
Peters is set for March 7-8.
Peters has pleaded not guilty to robbing the Market Square
Casino and trying to rob the Happy Jacks last July. Authorities
allege that Peters tried to rob the casinos in a four-day span,
then dyed her hair to try to elude capture. She was arrested later
that month.
Peters could face more than 57 years in prison if convicted.
