Brookings police report the theft of a large amount of cash from
a local residence.
Lieutenant Derrick Powers says a woman reported the theft at
about 1:20 Wednesday morning. The woman says she developed an
online relationship with a man and had met with him four or five
times. They met in Brookings Tuesday and the man stayed
overnight.
The woman says she woke up at about one Wednesday morning
to find the man gone and her cash missing. Powers says it's over
$1000.
Police are not sure if the man provided his real name. He may
be from Sioux Falls. The investigation continues.
