Current brookings School Board member Tom Yseth says is not seeking
reelection. Instead, Yseth says he will run for the Brookings County Commission
this November.
Yseth says he's running as an Independent because he has never seen
partisan politics enter into Brookings County government decisions.
Yseth has been a Brookings resident since 1971 and had a long career
in hospitality ownership and management. He's currently on the Board of
Directors of an insurance company and is an adjunct lecturer in Hospitality
Management at SDSU.
Commission seats held by Al Gregg and Deanna Santema are up for election
this year. Santema has already announced she won't be running again.
Gregg and Yseth have both filed to run.
