WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 22:
BHS BBB…Brookings virtually locked up second-seed, and home court advantage, to open next week’s District 1AA boys’ basketball tournament, with a 53-48 win over Sioux Falls Roosevelt Tuesday night.
Alex Irvine had 14 points and seven boards to lead the Bobcats. Tanner Odegaard added 14 points and Conner Doherty 13 points and eight boards. Irvine says the Bobcats were angry after last week’s losses to Brandon Valley and Sioux Falls Lincoln:
97621 :15 “it worked out”.
Tyler Howard had 13 points, and Lucas Wilber eight rebounds for Roosevelt. Brookings coach Travis Engebretson says the key stretch was Doherty’s six-point run early in the third that pulled the Bobcats into a 30-all tie. 97622 :28 “anywhere in March”.
Brookings hosts Pierre Thursday – the Governors are without the injured Zach Hanson, but Engebretson says it’ll still be a tough game. 97623 :24 “on Thursday night”.
Engebretson says a home game next week will be the first time in his 14 years in the program the Bobcats have hosted a district game.
