Bankstar Financial of Elkton reports several of their customers have
been contacted as part of a debit card scam.
According to the Brookings County Sheriff's Deaprtment, the scam was
reported Friday. Customers had received calls on their cell phones
telling them their debit cards had been locked. They received
instructions to call a phone number to get it unlocked.
The customer was asked to provide personal information when they
called in to unlock the card. The scammer would then use the customer's
personal information to access the account.
