Yankton woman sentenced in child porn case

YANKTON, S.D. (AP) - A Yankton woman who pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography will not go to prison if she stays out of trouble during her period of probation.

Forty-one-year-old Becky Jay Goetsch was indicted on eight counts of possessing child porn in February. A plea agreement reduced the charges to two.

Judge Glen Eng gave Goetsch a suspended imposition of sentence. That means if Goetsch violates her four-year probation, the judge could sentence her to 20 years in prison.

Goetsch must also spend the first 15 days of January and August in jail during her probation period and pay $1,000 in court costs.

Goetsch apologized in court and says she would do her best to make sure it does not happen again.
