Storms cause damage in central South Dakota

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Weekend storms caused damage throughout central South Dakota.

Hail and winds gusting up to 80 mph damaged homes and vehicles in the region late Saturday and early Sunday.

A storm destroyed one barn and damaged other buildings on a ranch near Dupree. People attending a high school rodeo in the town took shelter in campers on the rodeo grounds.

In southwest South Dakota, authorities say lighting might have started a fire that destroyed a home and prompted the evacuation of nearby residents.
