YANKTON, S.D. (AP) - The Yankton City Commission plans to hire a consultant to find a new city manager.
Doug Russell will serve his last day as Yankton's city manager Friday before taking a similar position in Kalispell, Mont.
A four-member committee of city commissioners reviewed is recommending paying Atlanta-based Mercer Group up to $19,500 for their recruitment services.
Mayor Nancy Wenande says the list of communities the firms has worked with is reputable, and the company has worked within Yankton before.
Mercer Group in documents says it aims to have a manager working for the city within 110 days of beginning the search process.
