SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Representatives from various government and civilian agencies are practicing their response to a simulated civilian aircraft crash at Sioux Falls Regional Airport at an unspecified time Thursday morning.
Firefighters assigned to the South Dakota Air National Guard will make the initial response, which will also require activation of the Incident Command System.
The system allows the airport authority to access critical resources of other military, federal, state, county and city agencies. Local ambulance departments and hospitals will also assist.
The exercise has been designed to comply with requirements of the Federal Aviation Administration and evaluate the cooperation of multiple organizations in a demanding exercise scenario.
