MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) - A South Dakota man accused of causing a crash that killed a 9-year-old girl while he was driving drunk and fleeing police has been sentenced to 40 years in prison.

Forty-six-year-old Michael Sedlmeier, of Mitchell, pleaded guilty earlier this month to manslaughter and third-offense driving under the influence in the March 24 crash that killed Iszabella Morgan. Prosecutors dropped other charges including vehicular homicide.

Sedlmeier declined to speak during his sentencing Friday but that his attorney said Sedlmeier felt remorse and regret.
