A Brookings man is hurt in a Tuesday afternoon rollover accident on 22nd Ave.
Police Lt. Derrick Powers says it happened at 2:26 p.m. when an SUV driven
by 46-year-old Daniel Schoonhoven went into the ditch and rolled.
Powers says Schoonhoven was southbound when he became distracted and
looked to the right. The vehicle then went into the right ditch, hit a wooden post,
and continued over 32nd St. S., landing in the ditch on the south side. The
SUV then rolled and came to a stop on its roof.
Powers says Schoonhoven was taken by ambulance to the Brookings hospital
with unknown injuries. He was cited for careless driving and no insurance.
