Keystone tramway rescue

KEYSTONE, S.D. (AP) - A Pennington County search and rescue team helped at least seven stranded people off a Keystone tramway that stopped from a mechanical failure.

Florida resident Linda Gordon says that she had just visited Mount Rushmore and decided to take a chairlift ride. She says she was on the ride about five minutes when it stopped around 11 a.m. Thursday.

No injuries were reported as crews used ropes and chair devices to bring the riders to safety.

Rescuer Richard Lehmann says the crew practices such scenarios and was ready.
