50-year-old man drowns in Belle Fourche Reservoir



     BELLE FOURCHE, S.D. (AP) - Authorities say a 50-year-old Belle Fourche (FOOSH) man has drowned in the Belle Fourche Reservoir.
 
     Butte (BYOOT) County Sheriff Fred Lamphere tells says that Duane Flynn was with a group at Gadens Point on the west side of the reservoir Monday evening when he waded into the water and stepped off a steep underwater drop-off.
 
     People on shore tried to help, but they were pushed back by 3- to 4-foot wind-driven waves.
 
     A boater found Flynn, who was unresponsive.
 
     Paramedics and law enforcement officers on scene tried to revive him but were unsuccessful. Flynn was taken to Spearfish Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
