A motorcyclist is injured in an accident after earlier being clocked doing
115 miles an hour in Volga.
The Brookings County Sheriff's Department says a deputy was running
radar early this morning on Highway 14 in Volga. A motorcycle went by
shortly before 1:00 am doing 115 in a 35 mile an hour zone.
The deputy attempted to stop the cycle but it continued west on 14. The
pursuit was stopped about six miles outside Volga because of the speed
involved.
A few hours later an accident was reported involving a motorcycle on
Highway 14 near 454th Avenue. The driver, 22-year-old Eric Weatherly of
Brookings, came to the Sheriff's Office to report the accident.
He was arrested for driving under the influence, eluding a law enforcement
officer, reckless driving, speeding, and failure to report an accident.
Weatherly reported injuring his ankle in the crash. There was extensive
damage to the cycle.
