Brookings police are investigating the report of a 6-year-old boy who
says he was approached by a stranger who tried to lure him into a van.
It reportedly happened at around 3:15 Monday afternoon on Half Moon
Road. The boy says a large purple van pulled over and a man got out
and stepped in front of his bike. The boy says the man showed him some
money and said there was more in the van and asked him to get in.
The boy turned his bike around, rode home and told his mom what had
happened. She called police.
The boy describes the man as older with brown hair, wearing black
clothes and white shoes.
Anyone who may have seen this man or the purple van is asked to
