FAA investigating emergency landing near Spearfish

SPEARFISH, S.D. (AP) - The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the emergency landing of a small plane near Spearfish over the weekend.

Sturgis pilot Bruce Bowen had engine problems after taking off Saturday and was forced to land the single-engine Cessna in a field near the Spearfish airport.

Lawrence County Chief Deputy Joe Harmon says the plane clipped a barbed wire fence and eventually rolled onto its roof. Bowen walked away. He declined comment.
