SDSU VB…South Dakota State looks to run its Summit League record to four wins this weekend, hosting IUPUI Friday night, and Western Illinois Saturday.  Each match begins at 7:00pm at Frost Arena.
The Jacks get a lot from their middle hitters – head coach Phil McDaniel says they have to be prepared if opponents take that away.  97621   :28   “to do that”.
McDaniel says Sunday’s win over North Dakota State should serve notice to teams they have to bring their “A” game into Frost.  97622   :28   “teams coming in”.
McDaniel was a guest on the “Sports Show” on the Ranch 910AM.

SDSU SOCCER…Creighton hosts South Dakota State Wednesday evening in the Jackrabbits’ final pre-Summit League tuneup.
Head coach Lang Wedemeyer says, for whatever reasons, the Bluejays have had SDSU’s number in the fall season.  97623   :23   “this past weekend”.
SDSU played a solid game last Friday but lost 2-1 to Iowa State.  Sunday, the Jackrabbits scored early, and often, in a 4-0 victory over Northern Iowa.

INDIANA STATE FB…The top two running backs in Division I football will be on display on the same field Saturday afternoon.  Who would have figured the field would be in Terre Haute, Indiana?
South Dakota State’s Zach Zenner meets up with Indiana State’s Shakir Bell in the Missouri Valley Conference opener for both teams.  Sycamores head coach Trent Miles says there’s more to it than the backs.  97624   :18   “college football game”.
Bell ran for a conference-record 349 yards Saturday in a win over Drake – Miles says Bell popped off some big gainers.  97625   :23   “to do that”.
As league play begins, Miles says the Missouri Valley’s the best he’s seen it.  97626   :43   “Valley Conference’s turn”.
You’ll hear Saturday’s game on the Ranch 910AM, with the pre-game show starting at noon.

UND SUSPENSIONS… The senior captain and three assistant captains of the North Dakota hockey team have been suspended for the season opener for violating team rules.
Athletic director Brian Faison says the suspensions of captain Andrew MacWilliam and assistant captains Corban Knight, Danny Kristo and Carter Rowney are a result of a team party last Saturday. Faison says behavior during the party was unacceptable. He did not elaborate.
Faison also announced some team discipline, including a mandatory community service program, weekly alcohol education programs and probation under which any violations by a team member could result in sanctions such as a scholarship reduction, a suspension or an expulsion.
UND opens the season on Oct. 19 against Alaska Anchorage in Fairbanks.
