BHS VB…Watertown knocked Brookings out of the “AA” volleyball post-season with a 25-23, 21-25, 25-23 and 25-20 win Tuesday night in Brookings.
    Mack Rief finished the match with 15 kills and three aces for the bobcats.  Kenzie Thuringer had 15 kills, three aces and three block assists…Alyssa Tvedt eleven kills…Marisa Milton had 45 set assists and four aces…Emily Johnson recorded 15 digs…and Amelia Miller had 12 digs and three block assists.
    Watertown advances to play at Yankton in a Region 1AA match – that winner advances to the state tournament.

ALL-LCC VB…Sioux Valley and Deuel each placed three players on the All-Lake Central Conference volleyball team.
   Haley Hillestad, Kaylee VanderWal and Anna Keefe earned the post-season honors for the Cossacks.
   Also on the team are:  Erin Engelkes, Tiara Gibson and Alissa Krause, Deuel;  Chynna Stevens and Alix Katz, Clark/Willow Lake; Taylor Schoenfelder and Maria Huntimer, DeSmet; Brice Rose and Kendra Duncan, Flandreau; Hope Juntunen, Hamlin; Breanna Dekam, Castlewood.
   Sioux Valley won the league title with Deuel second and Clark/Willow Lake third.

BLIZZARD AWARD…Brookings Blizzard defenseman Jordan Stejskal is the NAHL Central Division Star of the Week. Thursday, Stejskal recorded assists on both Brookings goals in a 3-2 loss. Friday, he again recorded a pair of assists, this time on the first two goals of the game, as Brookings beat Aberdeen, 5-1. Stejskal was also a plus-3 during the weekend and is currently riding a three-game multi-point streak. His plus-6 mark this season ranks third on the team and six of his seven assists this season have come in his last three games.

SUMMIT SWIM AWARDS… South Dakota State’s Wil Hogue and Oakland’s Karin Tomeckova were named The Summit League’s Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week.
   Hogue won two individual events and was a part of a winning relay team as well. He finished first and posted league-best times in the 50 Free (21.06) and 100 Free (46.51) and was a member of the first place 200 Medley Relay team with a time of 1:34.81, the second-fastest league time this season.
   Tomeckova won two individual events and two relays en route to helping Oakland defeat Wright State, 193-101. She won the 50 Back with a time of 27.21 and the 100 Back with a league-best time of 57.33. She was also a member of the winning 400 Free Relay team (3:39.68) and the 200 Medley Relay team (1:49.56). The OU 200 Medley Relay time is the second-fastest league time this season.

USF FB POLL…The University of Sioux Falls football team has dropped from 17th to 22nd in this week's AFCA Division II poll after a 27-13 loss to Minnesota State, Mankato over the weekend.
   Mankato remains at No. 6 in the poll.
   No other team from the Dakotas is ranked in either the Division II poll or this week's NAIA poll. Valley City State received votes in the NAIA poll but did not crack the Top 25.

COY TO NAIA NATIONALS…Dakota State’s Andy Coy has been named as a participant in the national NAIA cross country meet.
   The 57th Annual Men's and 33rd Annual Women's event will take place at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site in Vancouver, Wash. on Saturday, Nov. 17.
   Coy ran his 2012 personal best time on Nov. 3 in the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Cross Country Conference Championship meet. He recorded a time of 25 minutes and 34 seconds for a sixth-place finish and qualified for the national meet. In addition, Coy earned the A.I.I. Cross Country All-Conference honor for his third time.
