BHS BBB…Braxton Carlson’s 19 points led four double-figure scorers as Brookings defeated Mitchell 60-47 Tuesday night in
ESD Conference boys’ basketball.
Kaleb Vig had 11 points, Tyler Nagy and Konner Beste each scored ten, and Zach Page had seven boards for the Bobcats, who notched their 11th win of the season.
Beau Brown’s 21 points and four boards led the Kernels.
Brookings led by 13 points at halftime, but Mitchell got the difference down to four after three. The Bobcats closed with a 14-4 run in the fourth quarter.
Mitchell won the J-V game 54-39…and the Brookings sophomores won 53-31.
SV-DEUBROOK BBB…Sioux Valley held off Deubrook’s bid to tie the game late in the fourth quarter, and the Cossacks held on for a 63-58 win Tuesday night in boys’ basketball in White.
The 11-4 Cossacks led by three late in the game – Deubrook had possession but didn’t score, and Sioux Valley went on to win.
Tyler Tofte’s 19 points led Sioux Valley, with Jake Larson scoring 16 and Tayt Vincent with 13. Larson scored 14 in the first half, while Vincent was held to two.
Tyler Jensen’s 18 points led Deubrook, with Cory Byers scoring 16 and Dustin Trooien ten. Byers suffered a hand injury in the fourth quarter, but was able to return.

SV-DEUBROOK GBB…Sioux Valley opened the third quarter with an 18-0 run, and outscored Deubrook 21-4 in the period, to take a 48-30 win over the Dolphins Tuesday night in White.
Anna Keefe led the 11-4 Cossacks with 19 points – 15 of them in the second half. Carley Peterson had 14, including four three-pointers.
Ashton Buller’s nine points led Deubrook, with Rachel Peterson scoring eight off the bench.

DAVIES HONORED…South Dakota State’s Ffion Davies was named as The Summit League’s women’s tennis player of the week.
Davies earns her first career award after beginning the season with matching 2-0 records in singles and doubles play. In her collegiate dual debut, Davies notched a straight-set (3 and 4) victory over St. Louis’ Madison Cook at the No. 4 position. The next day, she moved into the No. 3 position and posted a straight-set win over SIUE’s Haley Ilcewicz (4 and 2). In doubles play, Davies teamed with Jenny Blackburne at No. 1 for victories over the tandems from SLU (8-2) and SIUE (8-6).
