Two injured in Thursday accident on I-29

Two people are hurt in a Thursday morning accident on Interstate 29 just North

of exit 133 near Brookings.

 

According to the Brookings County Sheriff's Department, it happened at about

8:45 a.m.  Both vehicles involved were headed south. An SUV driven by 

68-year-old Dennis Lanners of Clear Lake was passing a car driven by 

51-year-old Barbara Danley of Waubay. Lanners hit an icy patch and lost control 

in the strong winds and collided with Danley. 

 

Both vehicles went into the west ditch and rolled.  Both drivers were taken by

ambulance to the Brookings Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.  Lanners

had to be extricated from his vehicle by Brookings Fire and Rescue. He was 

cited for overdriving the road conditions.
