SDSU MBB BID…Fourth-seed Michigan (26-7) will face No. 13 seed South Dakota State (25-9) Thursday in a South Regional matchup at The Palace of Auburn Hills, located about an hour's drive from Michigan's campus.
Jacks head coach Scott Nagy says he knew the Jacks would draw a great team. 97634 :09 “be great defensively”.
Junior Chad White says he likes the matchup with the Wolverines. 97635 :05 “well with that”.
Guard Brayden Carlson says previous post-season experience will help SDSU. 97636 :08 “game would be”.
This game features two of the nation's top guards in Michigan's Trey Burke and South Dakota State's Nate Wolters.
Burke was the Big Ten player of the year and a unanimous first-team all-Big Ten selection by the league's media and coaches. Wolters, the Summit League player of the year, averages 22.5 points and 5.8 assists per game. Wolters doesn’t expect the chaos of last year’s tourney bid. 97637 :14 “play basketball again”.
South Dakota State won the Summit League tournament to earn the conference's automatic NCAA bid for the second straight year.
SDSU-WOLTERS…Summit League player of the year Nate Wolters says he's looking forward to facing his Big Ten counterpart.
Wolters will be defending Trey Burke when 12th seed South Dakota State faces fifth-seed Michigan in Auburn Hills, Mich., on Thursday. Wolters says he's had the chance to watch the Wolverines on television a few times and Burke is a good player, averaging 19.2 points per game.
The Jackrabbits guard says he expects a more open game than the defensive Summit League final in which SDSU topped North Dakota State 73-67. He says the game should be fast paced.
Wolters is averaging 22.7 games.
