Herseth Sandlin not running for Senate

Former South Dakota Congresswoman Stephanie Herseth Sandlin will not run
for political office next year.
In a posting on her Facebook page she says, “After carefully contemplating
that option, my family and I have concluded that the future should continue to
be focused on the plans we laid last year at this time. We're looking forward
to more quality time with family and friends."
She says her career at Raven Industries is everything she had anticipated and
more.  Herseth Sandlin says her son, Zachary, will be starting kindergarten in
the fall of  2014, just weeks before next year's general election.
Some democrats had been pushing Herseth Sandlin to jump into the race for
the Senate seat being vacated by the retiring Tim Johnson. Rick Weiland said
last week he would run for the Democratic nomination. Former Governor Mike
Rounds is running on the Republican side.
Johnson's son, Brendan, will reportedly not seek the nomination.
