Two people are injured in a Clear Lake shooting that ends in the
suicide of the suspected shooter.
Attorney General Marty Jackley says law enforcement was called to a
Clear Lake residence Sunday night at around 9:00 to respond to a call
of a double shooting.
Two people sustained gunshot wounds and were flown to a hospital for
The alleged shooter, 40-year-old Brett M. Pommer of Clear Lake,
proceeded to barricade himself in the residence.
South Dakota Highway Patrol SWAT and Codington County SWAT
attempted to negotiate with Pommer, but no contact could be made.
The joint SWAT teams then entered the residence to find Pommer
dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Agencies who assisted include the following: Deuel County Sheriff's
Office, Grant County Sheriff's Office, Codington County Sheriff's Office,
Hamlin County Sheriff's Office, Estelline Police Department, Watertown
Police Department, South Dakota Game, Fish and Park, South Dakota
Highway Patrol, Codington County Search and Rescue, Deuel County
Emergency Management, Deuel County Volunteer Fire Department and
the Division of Criminal Investigation.
