A Brookings man pleads guilty to the unlawful taking of migratory birds.

United States Attorney Brendan Johnson says 22-year-old Jaron Anderson
entered the plea Monday before a U.S Magistrate Judge.

The charge stems from an incident in Miner County in November of 2012.
Anderson illegally killed 65 geese using an electronic device. He admitted
he knew it was illegal to use such a device.  After killing the geese, they
were transported to various locations by Anderson and others in violation
of federal law.

The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.

Anderson was released on bond pending sentencing which has been set for
August 19th.

He's facing up to one year in prison and a $100,000 fine.
