PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - A movie shot in the Pierre area will debut this week at the annual Comic-Con festival in San Diego.
"Dust of War" features many South Dakotans as actors. It is a story about the post-apocalyptic American frontier where a lone soldier fends off a brutal warmonger to rescue a girl fated as the savior of humanity.
The movie was filmed during the Missouri River flood in 2011.
Pierre resident Andrew Kightlinger, who wrote the screenplay and directed the movie, says that participating in the filming gave many people a break from the stress of the flood.
Kighlinger says the movie fits well with Comic-Con, a festival celebrating comic books and science fiction.
The movie will be shown this fall at the South Dakota Film Festival in Aberdeen.
