A 16-year-old Brookings girl is facing charges after being stopped
driving a stolen car.

Police Lt. Derrick Powers says a resident of the 400 block of 17th
Ave. called police shortly after midnight this morning to report the
theft of a 2006 Toyota Corolla. It had been parked with
the doors
locked in the driveway.

Shortly before 2:00 a.m., an SDSU police officer spotted the vehicle
on Sixth St. and made a traffic stop.

The 16-year-old was placed under arrest for motor vehicle theft.
She could also face a burglary charge because she would have had
to enter the owner's residence to get the car keys.
