Dupree Post Office closed due to mold

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - The U.S. Post Office in the north-central South Dakota town of Dupree has been closed temporarily due to mold.

Postal Service spokesman Pete Nowacki says that a mobile unit has been set up so people can check post office boxes, buy stamps and conduct other business.

Nowacki says the Postal Service has used the closed office since the 1950s, but water got into the building and led to mold growth. He says the problem reached a point where officials decided employees and customers should not be exposed to the mold.

For now, Dupree's postal delivery routes are being operated out of the nearby city of Faith.
