A Brookings man is facing an aggravated assault charge after a Sunday
morning incident.

Police Lt. Derrick Powers says a woman went to the Sheriff's Office at about
5:30 a.m. to report that she had been assaulted. She was taken by ambulance
to the Brookings hospital with a broken arm and other injuries.

The 26-year-old Brookings woman tells police the assault occurred at a
residence on the 400 block of 7th Street.

She and her boyfriend had gotten into an argument and he began to pull her
hair and hit her. At one point, he threw her to the gound, breaking her arm.
She says the assault lasted for about 20-minutes before she was finally
allowed to leave.

Police went to the residence and arrested the 28-year-old Brookings man
