The Brookings Fire Deparmtent and Brookings Police are
investigating a suspicious fire.

Assistant Fire Chief Pete Bolzer says they were called to a fire in a
construction trailer shortly before 12:30 Sunday morning.  The trailer
was located in vacant lot southwest of United Living Center.

By the time the fire department arrived, Bolzer says there were
propane tanks and aerosol cans exploding so they backed off for
a bit before extinguishing the fire.

He says the trailer and its contents are likely a total loss. Estimated
value is 14-thousand dollars.

Bolzer says the police officer first at the scene noticed a door to
the trailer was open. He says that and the lack of a clear cut cause
lead them to term it a "suspicious fire."
