Miller suspended for 2 weeks

Brookings Police Chief Jeff Miller has been suspended without pay for a period
of two weeks.  The initial suspension was announced by Brookings City Manager
Jeff Weldon and that it was to be effective until further notice.
Weldon now says the duration of the suspension will be two weeks retroactive to
November first and runs through November 14.  Miller is expected to return to
work on Friday, November 15.
The suspension was for personnel reasons.
Assistant Chief of Police Dave Erickson has been appointed by Weldon as
Acting Police Chief.
Weldon says Employee privacy and personnel policies prohibit the City's
disclosure of the reason for the suspension.
