A Brookings man is sentenced to 12-years in prison for sexual
contact with a child under the age of 16.

Twenty-three-year-old Michael Rogers was given 15-years in
prison with three years suspended on several conditions. They
include that he have no contact with children under 18 while
on parole and that he pay all fines and costs.

The state had recommended the mandatory minimum of
ten years in prison but Judge Greg Stoltenburg told Rogers
that he is a "predator of the worst kind."

After the sentence was handed down, there were shouts
of "liar" and "predator" directed at Rogers from people
who were leaving the courtroom.
