Police are investigating a stolen pickup that was found with the
alleged thief passed out in the cab.

Brookings officers were called to the 300 block of Dogwood just
after midnight Tuesday morning. A resident called to say someone
had knocked on their door. When they went to answer it, no one
was there but a pickup was parked in their driveway with its lights
on.

Police arrived and the truck was still there with a man slumped
over in the front seat. It was determined the man had been drinking
and that the pickup belonged to NAPA and had been stolen from
their parking lot.

The 22-year-old Brookings man has been charged with grand
theft and driving under the influence.

There was damage to the vehicle, including some paint transfer on
the bumper. That is still under investigation.
