SDSU MBB…Brayden Carlson scored 22 points and Jordan Dykstra added 19 as South Dakota State defeated Denver 78-69 on Thursday night.
   Dykstra, in grabbing eight rebounds, became the third Jackrabbit in SDSU history to surpass 1,500 points and 800 rebounds in his career.
   Cody Larson added 16 points for SDSU (17-11, 9-4 Summit League) while Chad White added 11 points and Jake Bittle a career-high 11 rebounds.
   The Pioneers (15-13, 8-5) got 18 points from Jalen Love and 10 from Marcus Byrd. Brett Olson, with nine points, went over 1,000 for his career.
   A 7-0 spurt put SDSU up nine, 57-48, with 8 minutes left. Denver would get within six, but no closer.
The Jackrabbits made 24 of 32 free throws with Dykstra and Carson each making 9 of 10. Denver made 5 of 8.
   SDSU is tied with IPFW for second place with one regular-season game remaining.

SDSU WBB…South Dakota State claimed its fifth Summit League regular-season title and the No. 1 seed in the upcoming league championship with a 69-55 victory over Denver Thursday.
   Megan Waytashek led four Jackrabbits in double figures in scoring with a game-high 17 points. Steph Paluch had 12 points while Mariah Clarin and Chynna Stevens each added 11 points.
   SDSU sank a season-high 12 three-pointers despite shooting 37.9 percent from the field.
   The Jackrabbits used a 12-0 run after a Denver free throw to open the second half to take a 43-33 lead with 13:06 to go. SDSU pushed the lead to 18 points when Paluch made the squad’s 11th three-pointer with 8:34 left in the game.
   South Dakota State closes the regular season Sunday at South Dakota. The game tips at 2 p.m. in the Dakota Dome.

SDSU WRESTLING…The NCAA released its qualifier allocations for the 2014 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. Alex Kocer (149), Cody Pack (157), Joe Brewster (165) and John Nething II (174) all qualified an allocation for the Western Wrestling Conference.
   In all, the WWC received 15 allocations of the 290-man field.
   Pack is the highest ranked Jackrabbit, coming in at No. 16 in the coaches' rankings and No. 17 in RPI. The returning NCAA qualifier owns a 26-6 record and is on a 10-match winning streak entering the postseason.
   Kocer comes in at No. 24 in the RPI and No. 32 in the coaches' rankings. The Wagner native has a team-high 27 wins on the year.
   Brewster, who sits at 21-12 on the year, is No. 27 in the RPI and No. 30 in the coaches' poll.
   Nething II makes his debut in the final rankings as the Paynesville, Minn., native is No. 33 in both the RPI and coaches' rankings. Nething II is 20-11 on the year.
   The Jacks will wrestle in the NCAA West Regional/WWC Championships on March 8 in Orem, Utah with the NCAA Championships taking place March 20-22 in Oklahoma City, Okla.

DUNK-A-SHACK…South Dakota ice fishermen should be aware that all fish houses, shelters, and other structures must be removed from the ice by midnight, Feb. 28. Houses may be used after Feb.28, but must be removed from the ice daily.
