At Monday night's meeting of the Brookings School Board, Randy Hanson of Mills construction updated the board on the progress of the new, yet-to-be-named elementary school. Hanson says receiving the bids is a complicated process. Hanson says he, superintendent Roger Degroot, and district business manager Brian Leuders met to come up with possible effective changes. He also met with the people responsible for construction of Main Avenue and 26th street and says the decision on if they'll completely finish 26th street while the school is being built is stilli in limbo. Hanson requested a special meeting with the school board in a few weeks to get the final guaranteed maximum price for the elementary school so they can begin construction as soon as possible.
