A report today from the Brookings County Sheriff's Department that one of
their patrol vehicles was totalled in an April 16th accident.
It happened about three o'clock that afternoon in the midst of a snowstorm.
The Sheriff's Office says a deputy was checking on a semi that had slid into
the median of Interstate 29 near the Elkton exit. The vehicle was parked on
the shoulder with its yellow lights flashing.
A semi driven by 40-year-old Carl Serf of Arkansas swerved to avoid
another vehicle and hit the patrol vehicle.
The patrol car was totalled. The semi received about $10,000 dollars
damage. No one was injured.
Serf was cited by the Highway Patrol for following too closely.
