Man pleads guilty to killing fiancee near Chamberlain

CHAMBERLAIN, S.D. (AP) - A man accused of fatally shooting his fiancee in rural Chamberlain has been sentenced to life in prison without parole after changing his plea to guilty.

The 37-year-old Kent Davidson pleaded guilty to first-degree murder on Wednesday at the Brule County Courthouse.

Authorities contend Davidson shot Crystal Schulz in the head on March 11, 2013. Her body was found three days later in a shed at her mother's place.

He was arrested in Sioux Falls hours later after a standoff with police.

Davidson and Schulz were engaged, but court documents say Schulz was ending their relationship.
