BHS AWARDS…The Brookings High School athletic awards night was held Monday evening.
One student-athlete – Alexis Gannon – received the Outstanding Senior Athlete Award. White Letter awards went to Kacey Brown, Devon Crandall, Addison DeHaven, Alexis Gannon, Kaitlyn Hadley, Nick Hanson, Lydia Lucchesi, Adam Palmer, Kara Robbins, Cody Shepardson and Alyssa Twedt.
One-hundred-54 were recognized as "varsity scholar athlete" award recipients.
The Monogram Club’s executive committee, made up of 16 individuals, was recognized.
And football coach Lee Schmidt was honored as the Monogram Club’s "Coach of the Year".

PACK HONORED… South Dakota State University catcher Sam Pack has been named Summit League Player of the Week.
Pack hit an even .500, going 6-for-12 overall. Pack recorded two hits in each of the three games he played, scored two runs and drove in two runs as the Jackrabbits secured the top seed in this weekend's Summit League Baseball Championship in Sioux Falls.
SDSU, 27-27 overall, will square off against North Dakota State in the opening round of the Summit League Baseball Championship at 7 p.m. Thursday at Sioux Falls Stadium.​

STADIUM BILL SIGNING… Governor Dennis Daugaard is scheduled to hold a ceremonial signing for Senate Bill 15, authorizing construction of a new football stadium at South Dakota State University, Thursday in Brookings. The bill signing is set for 10:45 a.m. at Coughlin-Alumni Stadium on the SDSU campus. The event is open to the public.
Scheduled to join Daugaard for the bill signing are project benefactor Dana Dykhouse, South Dakota State University President David Chicoine and Director of Athletics Justin Sell.
Senate Bill 15, passed by the 2014 Legislature, authorizes construction of a football stadium for up to $65 million, financed by private funds and bonds paid from event operations. The new facility will be built on the site of Coughlin-Alumni Stadium over two years.

BARUTH-MEYER…Tributes are pouring in for former Northern State University coach Don Meyer, who died Sunday in Aberdeen.
Alpena native Randy Baruth spent five years at Northern as an assistant under Meyer, and says the coach was a fighter. 97631 :31 "frustrating for him". ..(baruth1 Q-frustrating for him 31 sec)...
Baruth just finished his third year as head coach at NCAA Division II Saginaw Valley State. He says Meyer's impact on him was simple but meaningful. 97632 :29 "for people".

Meyer died of cancer this past Sunday morning. A public memorial service for Meyer will be held Saturday at the Barnett Center in Aberdeen.
