CASTLEWOOD LEGION…Castlewood swept Clark/Willow Lake Thursday in American Legion baseball action.
Lucas Ching and Grant Fodness each had three hits and two RBI in an 18-2, four-inning win. Blayne Schliessman drove in three runs. Jackson Feyereisen pitched two innings for the win. Colin LaBrie took the loss.
Castlewood made it a sweep with a 15-3 win. Ching had three hits and four RBI, while Justin Cassels came up with three hits and pitched five innings of five-hit ball for the win. Rhett Florey had two hits and Noah Huber drove in two runs for Clark/Willow Lake.

COACHES HOF… John Bruce of Britton and Aberdeen Central and Northern State graduate Vic Godfrey of Watertown along with three others will be inducted into the South Dakota Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
The two men will join Don Shields of Pierre, Daryl Fletcher of Elk Point-Jefferson and Donna Schmitz of Gregory in being inducted July 16 in Aberdeen during the annual coaches' summer clinic.

SDSU ACADEMIC… South Dakota State University student-athletes combined to be honored 146 times on the Commissioner’s List of Academic Excellence, which was released Thursday by Summit League officials.
In addition, the Jackrabbit men’s basketball, women’s swimming and diving and volleyball teams were honored with a Team Academic Achievement Award for having the highest percentage of its list-eligible student-athletes honored.
To be selected to the Commissioner’s List of Academic Excellence, the student-athlete must carry at least a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average, used a season of eligibility during the 2013-14 academic year and previously completed one academic year at the nominating institution.
League-wide, 975 student-athletes were honored from the 19 Summit League-sponsored sports.

OLSON AWARD… South Dakota State high jumper Kali Olson has been named to the Capital One Academic Alll-America Division I Women's Track and Field/Cross Country Second Team, becoming the sixth Jackrabbit student-athlete to earn Academic All-America recognition during the 2013-14 school year.
Olson, a recent SDSU graduate from Lisbon, North Dakota, completed her Jackrabbit career with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average while majoring in psychology. She plans to continue her education next fall by attending graduate school for school psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.

SDSU FB TIX… Tickets for South Dakota State’s football season opener at Missouri will go on sale to the general public on July 9 through the Jackrabbit Ticket Office.
The Aug. 30 game at Missouri is set for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff at Faurot Field in Columbia. Tickets are $49 each, plus a $5 order fee, and can be purchased by calling the Jackrabbit Ticket Office at 1-866-GoJacks.
In addition, season tickets for the Jackrabbits’ six-game home schedule at Coughlin-Alumni Stadium remain available for $140, plus a minimum donation to the Jackrabbit Club. Season ticket holders can purchase additional single-game tickets starting July 14, while Jackrabbit Club members who are not football season ticket holders can purchase single-game football tickets starting July 21.
Single-game football tickets will go on sale to the general public on Aug. 1. Orders for season and home single-game tickets can be made online at JackrabbitTickets.com, by calling the Jackrabbit Ticket Office at 1-866-GoJacks, or in person weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Jackrabbit Ticket Office is located on the first floor of the Stanley J. Marshall HPER Center.
