Brookings police use a TASER on a woman to stop her from hurting herself
any further.

Police Lt. Derrick Powers says it began with a call to police Sunday morning.
A woman on the 500 block of 12th St. South had been threatening to harm
herself.

When police arrived, the woman was outside the residence with a knife. Police
ordered her to drop it. Instead, she began to cut her wrist.

In order to prevent the woman from further harming herself, police used a
TASER and the woman dropped the knife. She was taken by ambulance to
the Brookings hospital for treatment and further evaluation.

It's unlikely that any charges will be filed.
