Cami has worked in radio for 20 years, starting in sales then moving to Sales Manager then General Manager. Eighteen of those years have been right here in Brookings. She is also honored to be Vice President of Brookings Radio as well as an Executive Vice President for Three Eagles Communications.
She currently serves on the Jackrabbit Athletic Scholarship Auction committee, Brookings Marathon Committee, Project Joy Committee, as well as the Brookings Police Department and Brookings Health System Foundations. She is also a Junior Achievement consultant, Optimist Club member, Special Olympics volunteer, Uncle Sam Jam Coordinator, and First Lutheran Church Radio Committee member. Cami has been awarded Distinguished Alumni at Brookings High School and South Dakota State University Department of Journalism.
Cami's husband, Derrick is Lieutenant at the Brookings Police Department. They have 2 children, Ainsley and Brody. As a 1989 graduate of Brookings High School and a 1993 graduate of South Dakota State University, Cami is an avid Bobcat AND Jackrabbit fan. In her spare time, she likes to play softball, run, camp with her family, and fish with her husband Derrick.
Cami feels privileged to work with a group of 20 professional broadcasters that are here for the same reason. . .to make Brookings Radio the very best small market radio stations in the area!
Kelli was born and raised in Brookings. She graduated from Brookings High School and then from National American University in Rapid City with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and an Associates Degree in Accounting. At NAU she was a member of the College Rodeo Team and was a College National Finals qualifier two years in a row. After graduation she decided to make Brookings her home.
Kelli is currently on the Board of Directors for The Brookings Area Crime Stoppers and The Brookings Softball Association where she is the Vice President. She is a member of the Brookings Home Show Committee for the Brookings Regional Builders Association. She enjoys following all area sports especially the Bobcats and Jackrabbits.
Kelli and her husband Matt, a teacher at Mickelson Middle School and Bobcat Wrestling Coach, have two sons. Baker is four years old and Briggs was just born in September of 2013. In her spare time she enjoys playing softball, barrel racing, and spending time with her family and friends.
Laura Gerjets plays a key roll at Brookings Radio, she is the Business Manager; she maintains the accounting for all five radio stations and manages the radio traffic logs. Along with that, Laura also helps with promotions put on by Brookings Radio including "Reading Rocks!", a program that emphasizes the important of reading to the area elementary students, she coordinates and manages the Radio Auction, and does some website maintenance. She also coordinates three large events for Brookings Radio every year: The Moments to Cherish Bridal Show, Holiday Hints Shopping & Gift Fair, and the Moments to Cherish Bridal Show, Fall Edition. Laura joined the radio station March, 2007 as the Website and Promotions Manager and was promoted to Business Manager in December of the same year.
Laura grew up near the Volga/Bruce area and attended Sioux Valley Schools K-12, graduating in 1998. She then traveled south to attend the University of South Dakota. She graduated with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration, majoring in Business Management and specializing in Human Resources. Laura currently lives outside of Brookings on an acreage with her husband, Nick, and their two kids, Nadalee and Landon. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, boating, camping, cooking, and baking. Her all-time favorite activity is taking the kids to new and exciting places. Laura says, "watching the kids grow and learn is absolutely amazing."
Derek Baune is from Redwood Falls, MN and graduated from Redwood Valley High School in 2008. Derek then moved to Brookings to attend South Dakota State University. Derek joined the Brookings Radio staff in April 2013 and enjoys helping local businesses create promotional content.
Outside of Brookings Radio, Derek enjoys spending time with friends and family, hunting with his dog and spending time at the lake fishing.
Duayne started in the radio industry in 1971 doing overnights and broadcasting to the meatpackers at Hormel in Austin, Minnesota. WOW. . .that's over 43 years! After stopping in Mason City, Iowa; Sioux City, Iowa; and Pierre, South Dakota; he ended up in Brookings in 1984.
Duayne grew up in the small, southern Minnesota community of Amboy (about 25 miles south of Mankato). During his "downtime", Duayne enjoys Cajun cooking, reading, doing yard work, and spoiling his granddaughter and grandson. Duayne and his wife, Cyndy, have three children: Tony, April, and Daniel. Tony and his wife, Jennifer, live in Sioux Falls along with their daugher Alexis and son Logan. Tony graduated from SDSU, is a full-time Master Sgt/Crew Chief with the South Dakota Air National Guard. April is also a graduate of SDSU and works on the cardiac surgical floor at Sanford Health in Sioux Falls. April's husband, Mitch, is a full-time firefighter with Sioux Falls Fire & Rescue. The youngest, Daniel, and his wife, Katie, are both active duty Army Recruiters and are based in Green Bay, WI. They both served in Iraq from December 2005 through November 2006 and again in April 2008 to March 2009.
Duayne's favorite thing about working in radio is that every day is different. He feels he gets the pleasant opportunity to work with a professional staff of broadcasters who are dedicated to our listeners, our customers, and the public. He also gets to work with some of the best businessmen and businesswomen in Brookings. He says: "every day I learn something new from them and hopefully, I'm able to share ideas to help benefit their business!"
Bryan Waltz started his radio career in the early 1980’s when he was 14 years old in Rugby, North Dakota. After high school graduation, he moved to Fargo and attended Moorhead State University.
Bryan worked for Y-94 and Lite Rock 105 in Fargo, then Power 96 in Faribault and Albert Lea, Minnesota. In 1991, he moved to Brookings as Program Director and Morning Show Host on 910 KJJQ. Bryan has worked for Three Eagles Communications in the Sales Department and as Program Director and Morning Show Host at K Country 102.3 and 96.9 KDLO in Watertown and after 20 years he is back on KJJQ as Morning Show Host of the Ranch AM 910. Bryan has a passion for country music and is a Certified Radio Market Consultant.
Bryan has a 6 year old, Kade Macklin Waltz, and lives in Volga.
Frankie joined Brookings Radio in Febuary, 2005. Frankie is one of the smiling faces that greets you at the front desk or on the phone. As a joint venture with Erin, Frankie’s duties are assisting in preparing the commercial logs on a daily basis, assist customers with the Radio Auction, and many other different jobs that come across the front desk.
Frankie was raised in Norfolk, Nebraska and moved here in 1995 with her son, Michael who is now 28. Her favorite things to do are spending time with her family and friends, especially with her 11 great nieces & nephews. One of her favorite things to do is to serve others. She’s been the coordinator of The Blessing Tent since 2001 which provides free clothing and household items to those in need.
Frankie believes Brookings Radio isn’t just a great place to work but they’re part of her extended family.
Erin grew up near Clear Lake, SD and graduated from Deuel High School in 2002. She then moved to Brookings and attended SDSU and graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, with a minor in Business Management and Sociology.From there she worked in Watertown at Classic Cabinets and Design for 3.5 years.In the Fall of 2010, she decided to pursue her true passion and started her own photography business, ”Erin Leigh Photography”.Erin joined Brookings Radio in July of 2013 as one of the smiling faces that greets you at the front desk or on the phone. As a joint venture with Frankie, Erin’s duties are assisting in preparing the commercial logs on a daily basis, assist customers with the Radio Auction, and many other different jobs that come across the front desk.
Erin lives in the country between Volga and Brookings. In her spare time, she likes to spend time with friends and family, her dog Tug and cat Ernie, go to the lake, boating, camping, ride dirt bike, and have fun in the country.
