YANKTON, S.D. (AP) - Residents of the Yankton School District
vote Tuesday on whether to accept a school board decision to opt
out of the property tax freeze by $4.1 million a year.
The school board's decision in March to raise additional tax
revenue was referred to a public vote through a petition drive.
Secretary of State Jason Gant says the Yankton election will be
the first local election to use the state's reporting system. That
means voters will be able to use the Internet see a sample ballot,
to find voting locations and to see vote totals as ballots are
counted.
