The first annual BATA-thon is taking place at Brookings
Radio this friday from 6 a.m. to noon.
Brookings Area Transit Authority Director Brenda
Schweitzer leads this event for the non-profit
organization. She says that the funding for transit
this year is significantly lower and the purpose
of the BATA-thon is to help raise funds.
Schweitzer says this gives citizens a chance to help
keep the buses going by giving donations. She says
it's a reminder to people of the benefits of keeping
public transit.
The event will be on AM stations KBRK 1430 and The
Ranch 910 with occasional updates on the FM stations.
The mission of BATA is to provide coordinated
transportation services for all citizens of Brookings.
