The Brookings County Commission hears from
supporters of the 4H program. They urged the
county to fund a full-time 4H adviser and support
staff.
Cuts to extension mean the state will fund only a
half-time adviser. It's up to each county to decide if
they want to go further.
Bob Burke is the father of two 4H members and
says the program has been great for his kids.
Gabby Metzger participates in 4H and says it
has taught her a great deal not only to benefit herself
but her community and country as well.
County Commissioner Dennis Falken says they
support a full-time Four-H position and he believes
there is support for some type of support position.
The county has not yet taken any action on the
4H issue. They have until October to act.
